Means 3 fruits:

  1. Amla – Pitta
  2. bibaki – Kapha
  3. Haritaki – Vata (contains mild Anthroquinione – so a slow bowel movement 12 hours later)

Amla is the most common cultivated herb in India

Bibitaki Fruit

  • Used by singers for their voice

  • Most astringent of the 3 herbs

Haritaki – means God’s Nurse Sanskrit

  • Most important herb in all Ayurveda to treat Vata
  • Vata is the nervous system
  • 80 % of disease caused by Vata
  • Has Anthroquinione – so treats Vata constipation
  • Most bitter of the 3

Triphala

  • Used more than any other formula
  • Common to use Triphala dry rub massage

Chyavanprash

  • Most taken herb formula by weight in the world
  • Anti Pitta remedy because the main ingredient is Amla
  • Herbal jelly
  • Immune booster, sexual tonic
  • Does everything for everybody
  • Takes 2 days to make
  • Banyan makes the best quality that you will taste, $35 very expensive costs 4 times as much as other Chaywanprash.
  • Dabur brand is the main brand of lowest medium price and people – but economical.
  • Himalaya is another mid range huge company.  The Ayurvedic market is huge.  Chaywanprash is half the Ayurvedic market.

Chiretta – coldest bitter herb on the market

  • Related to Gentian
  • Bitter Cold used to promote secretion of bile

Betel nut

  • Seed inside a palm fruit.  Used with Betel peppercorn.
  • Alkaloid (arecoline) – mild relaxant – people take is to be mildly stoned for cheat dose.
  • From Madagascar, east Africa
  • Nervine relaxant
  • Definitely 4 times stronger than Poppy Seed.  About the same as Valerian
  • Used socially as a relaxant by the lower class.
  • All cultivated in south Asia.
  • Beautiful firebrick slices – tastes terrible.  Valerian tastes horrible, but people take it anyway.
  • Gives you mouth cancer and rots your teeth – from the lyme which it is made from.  As addictive as Marijuana.  Causes red gums, esophageal cancer.
  • Stimulating pungent warming
  • Pan or Paan Wala is a merchant who sells Paan – the leaves with the Betel and the lyme

 Lemon Balm

KP has tried it for Hypothroid and it’s not that great.  There are 50 other herbs that does it better.  Have their Thyroid tested, or give it to them to see if it suppresses their metabolism.  Lemon Balm is sedating, so it’s hard to tell
